Early Development Sketch: Rick Jameson
Growing up in the ’80s, I was drawn to all kinds of music - from hard rock and heavy metal to ’80s rap and funk. I didn’t pick sides - I just loved the sound, the energy, and the attitude.
One of the artists who really stuck with me was Rick James - a true funkmaster with an outrageous style that made no apologies. I also loved Run DMC, and I still remember going to see them live at Festival Hall in Melbourne… wearing my Appetite for Destruction Guns N’ Roses tee. That says it all - different genres, all part of the same rebellious spirit.
Rick Jameson is a tribute to that blend. He’s got the swagger, the boom box, and the rhythm of a time when music had grit, heart, and soul.
This whole universe we’re building? It’s soaked in those influences.
